Sellers – Tips to Prepare Your Home For Sale

These tips could make a big difference in the timely sale of your home and will not cost a lot.

  • Get a professional home inspection done before you put the property on the market. This will help you to price the home right, and to find out any issues that you may want to address before the buyer does their home inspections. This could prevent the buyer from walking away from the transaction or any renegotiating of the price later.
  • Get the exterior of the home pressure washed or painted
  • If needed, clean up your yard, keep your grass cut, and plant some colorful flower arrangements. Mulch can also make your yard look nicer.
  • Get rid of odors in your home (this may require replacing carpeting and touch-up-painting the walls).
  • If you have a lot of furniture or knick-knacks, try to remove some, to create a cleaner look.
  • Make your bed, do your dishes, keep your dirty laundry in a hamper when showings are scheduled.

I have worked with hundreds of buyers over the years that were turned off by properties because of lack of cleanliness. Keeping your home clean and organized during showings can be key!
